Dorothy "Dodo" (Redeen) Swanson

Dorothy "Dodo" (Redeen) Swanson, age 91 of Hastings, died peacefully on Saturday afternoon, January 25, 2020, at Augustana Care of Hastings. Dorothy Ann, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Bryne) Redeen, was born November 18, 1928, in Minneapolis. Following her graduation from Mechanic Arts in 1946, Dodo was united in marriage to Raymond A. "Ray" Swanson on September 14, 1960, in Northwood, Iowa. They briefly lived in Hastings, and then moved to Denmark Township, until she returned to Hastings following Ray's death on May 12, 2003. Dodo had a unique sense of humor and a way to interact with others that was second to none. She was a talented crocheter, and would always have classic game show or mystery on in the background. Dodo had many hobbies including, cake decorating, flower arranging, and her love of games and cards. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband, Ray. Dodo is survived by her only child, Leighton Swanson; former daughter-in-law, Becky Swanson; two grandsons, Logan and Daniel Swanson; Leighton's special friend, Dana Stamos; and by many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2020, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Please meet in Assembly Area #2 by 2:15 p.m. Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to gather at Obbs Sports Bar & Grill in St. Paul for a time of sharing memories. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Dementia Society of America, or to the donor's choice in memory of Dodo. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
