Dorothy C. Fritze, age 87, of Hastings, passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020, at Regina Hospital. Dorothy Clare, the daughter of Martin and Florence (Gerlach) Conzemius, was born on October 21, 1933, in Hastings, Minnesota. Following her graduation from Hastings High School with the class of 1951, she hopped on a train to Washington D.C. for her first secretarial job with the railroad. Missing her family, she returned home and continued work with the railroad in Minnesota. She married Gary Fritze and was blessed with her five children. She went on to work for the City of Hastings, the Hertogs Law Firm, and in “retirement” worked as a court clerk for the Dakota County Government Center. She treasured her time with her children and grandchildren, hardly ever missing one of their sporting events. She cherished her card club friends of 50+ years, enjoyed playing Kings in the Corner with grandkids, and often took a dollar or more off you when playing Cribbage. She loved growing up on the farm, fishing, watching sports on TV, spending time outside in her yard and flower gardens. She was a kid at heart and had a sense of humor and warmth that she shared with everyone around her. She left behind a legacy of love, one that will never die. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Elly McNamara; her brother-in-law, Jerry Weber. Dorothy is survived by her children, Linda (Mark) Prettyman, Steve (Carol) Fritze, Lori (Mark) Beskau, Scott Fritze, and Jim (Marilyn) Fritze; her beloved grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, with two more on the way; her siblings, Marion Weber; Lois (Bill) Cain; Marty (Becky) Conzemius; brother-in-law, Clayton McNamara; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Due to COVID-19 a PRIVATE family service is being held. A Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
