Doris "Dori" Shapiro passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026, at BeeHive Homes in Lakeville.
Dori was born on March 29, 1942, in Hastings, Minnesota, to Lawrence and Alvina Pechacek. She grew up in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School with the Class of 1960. She later attended Mankato University.
Dori was united in marriage to Chuck Langenfeld, and together they had three children. Though they later divorced, she remained devoted to her family. In 1975, she married Marshall, and they shared many years together until his passing in 2018.
Dori spent over 20 years working in real estate, helping families find homes in both Hastings and Chicago. No matter where life took her, Hastings was always home, and she returned there time and again.
Gardening was one of Dori’s greatest joys, and she took pride in nurturing beauty wherever she lived. Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life—she delighted in their laughter and was always ready with Tootsie Rolls and bubbles to make their time together special.
Dori lived life with spirit and enthusiasm. She was spunky, fun-loving, and always ready for an adventure. Above all, she cherished her family and held them close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marshall; and her brother-in-law, Raymond Kerstetter.
Dori is lovingly remembered by her children, Renee (Steve) Whiteis, Shawna (John) Kimmes, and Zane (Sherri) Langenfeld; her grandchildren, Jacob (Gina), Kayla, Cole, Zach, Sarah, and Noah; her great-grandchildren, Mason, Charley, Nora, Declan, and Calvin; her sister, MaryLou “Honey” Kerstetter; and many other relatives and dear friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:30AM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Private family interment will be in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery. Arrangements are with Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel.
