Donna L. Hakseth

Donna Lorraine Hakseth, age 85, of Hastings, passed away at home March 5, 2022 surrounded by her family. Donna was born, the oldest of six children, to Walter and Emma Gabbert in Hankinson, ND on April 6, 1936. She graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1954. Donna married the love of her life, Ivan Hakseth on January 25, 1955 at Fort Smith, Arkansas while Ivan was serving in the Army. In 1956 they moved back home to Hastings to raise their family. Donna was employed as a cook for School District 200, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a very kind hearted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, traveling, collecting hummingbirds and tending to her flowers and garden. She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy; parents; brother, Dick; daughter in law, Mary; mother and father in law, Emily and John; and sisters in law, JoAnn and Marcy. Donna is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Ivan; sons, Michael and Marv (Janice); daughter, Renee (Arlo) Rhoads; 10 grandchildren and 22 3/4 great grandchildren; siblings, Rose (Jerry) Severson, Bob, Debbie and Joyce; sisters in law, Donna and Myrna; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family and Friends are cordially invited to a Funeral Service on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviour's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 9th St. W. in Hastings. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. A reception will be held immediately following the service, concluding with the interment at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.
