Donald Duane Perkins, Jr., age 78, of Rosemount, Minnesota, passed away on October 24, 2025, at the Minneapolis VA Hospital, surrounded by his children. Don was born in Decatur, Illinois, on November 22, 1946 to Donald Sr. and Mary Perkins. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1965 and went on to serve his country proudly in the United States Army. Don owned and operated Atlas Wall and Ceiling Supply in the Quad Cities for many years before moving to Minnesota.
Throughout his life, Don remained devoted to his family, his faith, and his community. He especially cherished traveling with the love of his life, Mary Lou Schenck, attending State Fairs, being active in church, and spending meaningful time with the many family members and friends who brought him joy.
To his grandchildren, Don was known affectionately as “Silly Grandpa”, always ready with a laugh, a playful moment, and a heart full of love. His humor and warmth created cherished memories that will continue to brighten their lives.
Don is survived by his children, Tara Godden (Jesse Keller), Rob (Kirsten) Perkins, and Scott Perkins; step-children, David Schenck, and Jeffrey (Melissa) Schenck,; twelve grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Mark (Cindy) Perkins, Karen Kitchens, and Mary Jo (Kenny) Wrigley, along with extended family and numerous friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by Mary Lou Schenck,, his beloved wife; his son, Nicolas Perkins; his parents, Donald Sr. and Mary Perkins; and his sister, Carol Grider.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Stonebridge Church, 1301 County Road 42 E, Burnsville, Minnesota, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Military honors will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Don’s legacy of love, humor, loyalty, and service will remain a bright and lasting light in the lives of all who knew him.
