Donald Francis Olson

Donald “Donnie” Francis Olson passed away at home on October 6, 2025 at the age of 74 after a lengthy illness.

He always had a talent for planting and gardening which stemmed from growing up and working in his family’s greenhouse business. Donnie also had a career with the HD Hudson Company which spanned over 40 years.

Throughout Donnie’s life he enjoyed traveling many times to Mexico with family and friends, hunting, fishing and he could fix anything! He was an excellent cook and best known for his potato salad which took hours to make but was well worth it!

In Don’s later years he still enjoyed gardening – yard work, not so much.

Donnie loved going out to breakfast. Many of his last years were spent “junkin” at flea markets and garage sales. He was always looking for a deal and collected most anything.

Donnie’s failing health cut his life way too short. He is now reunited with his parents. Please keep him in your prayers. He will be greatly missed.

Donnie is survived by his sister, Vangie (Tom) Waldera; brother, Mike (Julie) Olson; and by many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Monica Olson.

A private family graveside service for Donnie will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery in Hastings with Father Michael Tix officiating.
