Donald L. Ellingson

Donald L. Ellingson, age 85, of Hastings, died Sunday, March 6, 2016. Donald was born February 3, 1931 in Wanamingo, MN to Leonard and Myrtle (Jacobson) Ellingson. He attended Hastings Schools and was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served during the Korean War. He married Dorothy (Klein) on June 12, 1954 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. Don was a machinist foreman employed at Armour Co. and for Coca Cola Co. He retired in 1993. He was a member of the Hastings VFW and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy in 2010, 2 sons Ricky and Bruce; and siblings Melvin, Agnes and Katherine. Don is survived by his daughters Cynthia Ellingson and Laurie (Sam) Johnson; grandchildren Jared (Cathy) Johnson and Samantha Johnson; 1 great granddaughter; siblings Lenora, Robert, Joanne, Arlen and Leonard. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Thomas J. McKenzie , will be at 10:30 AM Monday, March 14, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th Street West, Hastings with a visitation at the church 1 hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the parish cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post # 1210. Casket bearers are Sam and Jared Johnson, Joel Korpi and Duane Peterson.
