Donald J. "Digger" Kasel

Donald J. (Digger) Kasel, age 78 of Malaga, Washington and formerly of Hastings and Woodbury, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hildegard (Stoffel) Kasel; brother, Gene Kasel; and by his sister, Joan Gergen. Donnie is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Debbie; children, Kristine (Mike) Patterson, Audra (Pete) Philblad, Nate (Christy) Kasel, Alex (Ally) Kasel, and Rich (Rana) Trine; seven grandchildren who he adored, Dannie, Bailey, Trevor, Kyle, Emma, Leah, and Naomi; siblings, Kathleen Horsch and Dave (Debbie) Kasel; sister-in-law, Sondra Kasel; and by many other relatives and friends. Donnie loved fishing, hunting, and golfing. He and Debbie loved traveling to Florida in the winters to stay at their condo. After school, he worked for Western Union and Northwestern Bell and eventually became self-employed for twenty-nine years in the telephone communications industry. He also owned Kasel Limo’s as well as several other businesses throught his career. He and Debbie enjoyed living in their mountain home in Washington for the last fourteen years. A Celebration of Donnie's Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 9, 2019, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings, with Father Michael Tix officiating. Private family interment will be held at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Vermillion. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service, and also to a reception immediately following the service, all at the funeral home on Friday. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
