Donald D. Meyer

Donald D. Meyer, age 80, of Hastings, a retired 3M employee died December 4, 2008, surrounded by his family.Donwas born December 8, 1927 in Waterloo, IA to David and Violet (Fee) Meyer. He grew up in the Waterloo area and graduated from Dunkerton High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during WW II. He married Leila Wagner January 6, 1956 in Minneapolis, MN. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, making homemade sausage and wine. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Donwill be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Leila (Wagner) Meyer of Hastings; and his children Donna (Todd) Morris of Hastings, Carol Meyer of Winona, Sharon (Carl) Reuter of Hastings, Doreen (Richard Jr.) Platson of Prescott, WI; Gail (Gregory) Geissinger of Marshfield, WI; David (Teresa) Meyer of Hastings and Jon (Sue) Meyer of Hastings. He is also survived by grandchildren Daniel, Katie and Paul Morris, Isaac Mueske, Tanya Reuter, Pam Borst her children Alex Tyler, Bruce Platson and his child Cole, Margaret, Andrew, Nicole, John and Michael Geissinger, Donald, Mitchell and Samuel Meyer, Cassidy, Emily and William Meyer.He is also survived by a brother Richard (Marlene) Meyer of Waterloo, IA.He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Mary Margaret, grandsons Peter Nicholas, a sister Onalee Dinnebier.A visitation will be held Monday, December 8, 2008 from 4-8 pm at ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2035 W Fifteenth St., Hastings, and also Tuesday 1 hour before the funeral.The funeral mass will be Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 9:30 am at ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON CATHOLIC CHURCH with interment following in the parish cemetery.
