Don L. Jorgensen, age 76 of Hastings passed away on November 16, 2010 at his home, after a long struggle with cancer.Don was born September 3, 1934 in Farmington to Melvin and Helen (Dilly) Jorgensen. He married Patricia Kane on January 16, 1954 in Iowa. Don was a self-employed drywall contractor for 40 years. Don�s son Steve was his business partner for 20 years. After retiring, Don moved with his devoted wife Pat to Tucson, AZ for 9 years of fun in the sun, returning to Hastings in 2006.Don enjoyed his family especially being together at the holidays. Through the years he enjoyed traveling to many different states and also driving cross country many times from Arizona to Minnesota. Hobbies in addition to traveling were daily visits to the Hastings YMCA for exercise and friendship. Don collected model cars and Bryer horse collectibles. He loved country western music and attending the antique car show in downtown Hastings during the summer months. Once outside activities were no longer an option due to illness; movies and daily visits from friends, neighbors and especially Larry Bauer, were most enjoyable to Don. He was preceded in death by his parents. Don is survived by his wife Patricia; daughter Deb (Jim) Lyness of Hastings, and son Steven (Sandy) Jorgensen of Oakdale; grandchildren Micki, Nancy (Russ), Nate (Laura), Dan, and Ryan; great-grandchild Linsey; brother Dale Jorgensen of Red Wing; sister Judy (Lowell) Young of Red Wing; mother-in-law Margaret Kane of Hastings; brothers-in-law Paul (Margie) Kane of Hastings, Steve (Joette) Kane of Hastings, and Robert (Judy) Kane of Tucson, AZ; also nieces and nephews. The Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. Allan Paul Eilen, will be held at 10AM Saturday, November 20, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. Fifteenth St., Hastings, with a gathering one hour prior to the service. Interment, with full military honors provided by Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210,will follow in the parish cemetery. The urnbearer will be Steven Jorgensen. Honorary pallbearers are Nate, Dan, Ryan, Jim, and Laura Lyness, Larry Bauer, Mike Berneck, Micki Jorgensen, Nancy Jorgensen and Linsey, Charlene Rother, and Sandy Carlson. Special thanks to the Fairview Regional Hospice in Red Wing. To Lisa and Connie for the special care given; they were exceptional care givers to Don and his family. Thank you to our very special family member and extraordinary care giver, Charlene Rother. To Father Eilen, who spiritually guided not only Don, but all of the family. We are eternally grateful.Memorials are preferred to Fairview Regional Hospice in Red Wing.
