Diane J. Flom

Diane J. Flom, age 67, of Hastings, passed away unexpectedly at home December 25, 2021. She was born in Hastings on April 15, 1954 to Bernard "Buck" and Bernice (Meier) Husting. Following her graduation from Hastings High School in 1972, Diane married her high school sweetheart Jerry Flom on May 18, 1974. After spending years at home raising her boys, Diane worked at Target, Hoffman & McNamara / Westside Laundry and retired as a secretary for the Hastings School District. She also enjoyed her time with the Little Raiders Football Program, serving on the Board of Directors for the organization’s first 17 years, and enjoyed spending countless hours meticulously tending to her flower gardens. Diane was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, enjoying many family trips together and their activities and sporting events. She will be forever remembered for her infectious laugh and sadly missed by her large family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Bernice Husting and her father and mother-in law, Ken and Ethel Flom. Diane is survived by husband, Jerry; children, Ryan (Kathryn) Flom, Jeffrey (Jeanette) Flom and David (Candace) Flom; grandchildren, Tyler Moris, Anders and Erik; Madelynn and Brooklynn; and Nolan, Brendan and Addison; siblings, Karen (Richard) Spicer, Kenneth (Jennifer Rank) Husting, Nancy (Jim) Schmotter, Julie (Mike) Lubich and John (Jodi) Husting; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, Diane’s family requests memorials be directed to American Cancer Society, Parkinson’s Foundation or the donor's choice in her memory. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St., Hastings. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.
