Derek Tyrone Darrion Edwards,24 Hastings, MN God called Derek home unexpectedly on November 11,2021. Derek was born on December 10, 1996 in Gary, Indiana. Derek moved to Minnesota at an early age where he attended school and graduated from Hastings Senior High in 2016. He excelled in Wrestling and Football. Derek was a devoted father to his only child, Blue whom he adored! He was kind,caring, loving and could light up any room with his smile. Derek is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gary Lee Ozier; and his paternal uncles, Percy and Darnell Brewer. Derek is survived by his parents, Taria Ozier, Nathan Lyness(stepfather) and Derek Edwards; his family, Mackenzie Mae Rabitoy, and daughter, Blue Ty Edwards; Grandparents, Brenda Horsley, Cheryl and Edmond Thomas; great-aunt, Hilda (Thomas) Taliaferro; aunts, Monica Horsley (Uncle Victor Johnson), Ella (Deon) Dennie, Ebony Ozier, Cheryllonda Brewer, April Andrews, Kyara Horsley; uncles, Corey Ozier and Brandon Edwards; a host of cousins, some he considered his best friends, Deshawn, Tj, Antonio, Nautica, and Dj; as well as a host of other friends and family. Derek’s Viewing will be Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 12pm with his funeral service immediately following at 1pm, both held at Crossroads Church, 225 33rd St W., Hastings MN 55033.
