David Glen Madland

David Glen Madland, 62, of Hastings, Minnesota, passed away on June 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on October 16, 1963, to Glen and Teresa Madland, David was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

David grew up in Hastings, Minnesota, and was a proud 1982 graduate of Hastings High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served from 1982 to 1986, reflecting his dedication and strong sense of duty to his country. He was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. Following his honorable discharge, David attended Dakota County Technical College, where he earned an Associate's Degree in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications.

David spent the majority of his career at Cisco as a Senior Network Engineer. Committed to lifelong learning and excellence in his profession, he earned and maintained the prestigious Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) credential for more than 30 years. He was highly respected and admired by his colleagues and clients alike.

Known to family and friends as Dave, "Madman," and "Soupbone," he had a passion for cooking, great food, travel, gardening, and music. He inherited his love of cooking from his mother and generously shared that gift by preparing and delivering countless meals to family and friends. Dave's love of gardening was evident by the beautiful flower beds surrounding his home. Dave was known for his remarkable ability to sing the lyrics to almost every song. He loved socializing and had an extraordinary gift for striking up a conversation with anyone, making people feel welcome wherever he went.

Above all, Dave cherished time with his family, relatives, and friends. His faith in God was a quiet but steadfast source of strength throughout his life, bringing him comfort, hope, and peace, especially during his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Teresa Madland. He is survived by his loving significant other, Diana Brasch; his sons, Paul, Erik, and Mark; his cherished grandson, Benny Madland; his sisters, Michelle (Dan) Ninefeldt and Ann Madland; along with Dave’s nephews, niece, Diana’s children and many extended family members and dear friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with memory sharing from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel. The Mass on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, with visitation one hour prior to Mass. Interment will occur on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Minnesota Veterans Home – Hastings or the School Sisters of Notre Dame.

David's kindness, generosity, laughter, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family and friends will forever be remembered. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.
