Lifelong entrepreneur, founding several local businesses including the House of Mettayer Imports, Highland Park Moving and Storage, and Mr. Carton. Veteran of World War II (Pacific Theater). Preceded in death by parents David and Hazel Mettayer. Survived by wife of 35 years, Martha Mettayer; Children: Cheryl (David) Martindale, Jeff (Mary Jo) Mettayer, Judy (Ron) Olson, Linda Wunderlich, Tiffanie Mettayer-Buck (Courtney), Michele Mettayer; Grandchildren: Mark (Julie), Amyann (Daniel), Andrew (Valerie), Kelly (Brian), Dane, Tara, Alicia, Dustin and great grandchildren.
