David "Dave" Werner

David L. Werner, age 71 of Hastings, died suddenly on Monday morning, July 24, 2017, at United Hospital in St. Paul. David was born December 24, 1945 in Hastings to Clement and Dorothy (Gerster) Werner. He was a 1963 graduate of Hastings High School and had served in the National Guard. David was employed with 3M for many years and after his retirement, both farmed and owned and operated Lawn Systems, Inc. of Hastings. He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Mary Werner and brother, James. David is survived by his three daughters, Erin (Chris) Freitag of Texas, Erika (Jeff) Greenlee of Rosemount and Jill (Chris) Ide of Hugo; grandchildren, Grace and Grant Freitag, Jack and Tom Greenlee; mother, Dorothy Werner of Hastings; sister, Charlene Nagayama of California and brother, Tom (Deanna) Werner of Hastings; his former spouse of 38 years, Suzanne Werner; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth Street, Hastings with Father Michael Barsness, celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings and one hour prior to Mass at church Saturday.
