David "Dave" Amy

David "Dave" Amy, age 77, of Hastings, died suddenly on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at his home. David William, the son of Joseph and Marion (Kotter) Amy, was born on October 25, 1937 in Hastings. He attended Hastings High School where he lettered in baseball, basketball and football before graduating with the class of 1955. On January 27, 1962, Dave was united in marriage to Delores McCluskey at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Farmington. She later preceded him in death on May 24, 2003. Dave was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following the Minnesota Gophers and Vikings. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Claire Pederson, Charles Amy, Paul Amy, and Lois Koskela. He is survived by his children, Kelly (Tom) Guntzburger of Duluth, Michael (Kimberly Rohweder) Amy of Hastings, Douglas (Anna) Amy of Hastings, Scott Amy of Hastings and Guy (fiance Peggy) Amy of Woodbury; his grandchildren, Nicole Guntzburger, Craig Guntzburger, Mackenzie Amy, Alexandra Amy, Andrew Amy and Allison Amy; his twin brother Donald (Elizabeth) Amy of Hastings; and by many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth Street, in Hastings with Father Cole Kracke, officiating. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street, in Hastings on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday.
