Daniel George Van Risseghem

Daniel (Dan) George Van Risseghem, 81 years, of Hastings, Minnesota, passed away on July 2, 2025 at United Hospital, St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dan was born on the family farm at Onamia, Minnesota to Daniel and Clara (Schaack) Van Risseghem on March 19, 1944. He went to Onamia High School, Onamia, Minnesota graduating in 1962. He went on to receive a business degree from the Minnesota School of Business. He worked as Assistant Mill Manager at ConAgra Milling for 34 years.

Dan loved the outdoors. He started following his Dad (Pop) around at a young age to the trapping lines. Dan later had his own trap line. He enjoyed the summer season fishing with his brother-in-law, Jerry. Autumn was his favorite season. Deer hunting was in the planning for many months, even before the opening date. It was a Van Risseghem "family" tradition with his Dad, brothers, brother-in-law, and nephews. Many deer over the years were harvested. Dan also loved to make birdhouses in his spare time. He also enjoyed his yard, flowers and gardening.

Dan was preceded in death by parents Dan and Clara Van Risseghem, brothers Donald and Stefan (infant), sisters Dolores (Jerry) Anderson, Carolyn (Jerry) Fischer, nephew Kevin Fischer.

Dan is survived by his wife, Linda, daughters, Nicole Van Risseghem and Kristin (Rodney) Siebenaler, granddaughters Brittney Van Risseghem (Spencer Mead) and Ciarra Harvey, brother, Greg Van Risseghem, sister-in-law, JoAnn Van Risseghem, many nieces and nephews.

Casket bearers are Stephen Fischer, Mark Fischer, Tim Fischer, Nathan Van Risseghem, Trevor Penning, Josh Noser.

Dan Ioved his family, was a kind gentle person, funny and serious.

The family wishes to thank White Pines of Cottage Grove, United Hospital 3300 cardiac unit, friends and family.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Daniel will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th St W, Hastings, MN, with a visitation two hours prior to the Mass.

Interment will be St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic in Hastings, following the Mass.

Arrangements are being handled by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings.
