Daniel D. "Dan" Preuss

Daniel D. "Dan" Preuss, age 70 of Hastings, died peacefully following a brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer on Monday evening, January 24, 2022, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Daniel Duane, the son of Arden and Jean (McCloud) Preuss, was born on December 20, 1951, in St. Cloud. He graduated from Elk River High School, and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Following his discharge, Dan began his career with Burlington Northern Railroad and also worked various jobs over the years until his retirement. Dan met the love of his life, Connie Christensen, in 1983 and they were later married on April 21, 1984. Together, they were blessed with two children, Louis Christopher and Clarissa Jean. Dan loved being outdoors, especially when he was fishing. He loved nothing more than to sit in his boat and going to the cabin to fish with his grandson, Ashton, and enjoyed the opportunity to ice fish throughout the winter as well. Dan cherished spending time with Connie, his children, and grandchildren. Dan also loved his cat of fourteen years, Garfield, and his loyal dog, Savor. Dan is survived by his best friend, Connie; children, Louis Preuss and Clarissa (Phil) Hilleshiem; grandchildren, Ashton Preuss, Jazzlyn Vermeersch, Declan Preuss, and Kaylee, Xander, and Ava Hilleshiem; and by many other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Dan's Life will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with Gordon Gathright officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
