Dale A. Wiech age 72 of Hastings passed away March 16, 2009 at Augustana Care Center in Hastings. Dale was born to Arthur and Lillian Wiech in Red Wing, MN on April 9, 1936. He was in the US Air Force from 1953 €“ 1957. He married Maxine Diercks on Aug 22, 1959. Dale was a former President of the Hastings Jaycees and the Lions Club. He was very active at Hastings Family Services and could be seen at various venues around town at Christmas time where he played Santa Claus. He was the owner of the Dale Wiech Insurance Agnecy and loved golfing, fishing, traveling, gardening, bird watching, and reading. He was recognized as one of ten people who made a difference in Hastings. One of the highlights of his life was releasing a rehabilitated eagle back into the wild at Carpenter's Nature Center. Dale was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; children, Todd (Jamie) Wiech and Valerie (Scott) Schroeder; grandchildren, Courtney; Kyle; Nicholas; and Jaxon; brother Randy Wiech; many other relatives and friends. Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. Lloyd Menke, Friday (3/20) 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviour's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 W. 9th St., Hastings. Gathering Thursday from 5:00 €“ 8:00 p.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St, Hastings and 1 hour prior to service at church. Honorary Pallbearers are Kyle Wiech; Roger Kjome; Gene Andersen; Dick Berg; and Lee Wiech. Interment Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings.
