Crispin Kean Metzler (Cris) passed away on September 24th in Hastings, MN after a long and hard fought battle with lung cancer.
Cris was born on December 28, 1947 in East Cleveland, Ohio to Ruth and Charles Monnette Metzler. Cris’s father died when Cris was 3 years old and his mother was remarried to Carl Giblin when he was 8. Cris loved Carl dearly and considered him “dad”.
Cris spent his early years in South Euclid, OH and was proud to have attended the Greenbriar Military School in West Virginia. He joined the US Airforce, attended the ” Little Red Schoolhouse”, and received an honorable discharge in 1971.
Cris started his career at the age of 14 repairing television sets. He went on to work as an engineer and technical advisor for Sperry-Univac, Agere, Polar Semiconductor, Atmel, PSE and Analog Devices Inc, among others. He loved his work, loved to travel and his engineering career provided both.
Cris stayed curious all of his life. He was a student of history, astronomy, read voraciously and could fix anything. Cris was an Eagle Scout and recently renewed his baptism at the Resurrection UMC.
He is survived by his wife, Patti and son, David Blatz. He is also survived by two children from a previous marriage, daughter Andrea Murphy (Mike) and son Nathan Metzler (Liz), his sister, Barbara Dible, nephews, grandchildren and many dear friends.
A memorial service will be held on November 1st, 2025 at Resurrection UMC in Hastings MN. Visitation at 10:00, service at 11:00. Lunch to follow in the church Fellowship Hall. Arrangements are with Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel.
