Cody M. Bartels

Cody M. Bartels, age 35 of Hastings, died suddenly but peacefully, on Wednesday morning, April 26, 2017, at his home. Cody Michael, the son of Terry and Debbie (Denker), was born on August 13, 1981, in Hastings. Cody attended Hastings High School where he enjoyed being active in both baseball and hockey. Following his graduation in 2000, he began working in the construction industry as a sider. On September 9, 2006, Cody was united in marriage to Brooke Hilderbran, and they were blessed with a daughter, Ashlynn, prior to being later divorced. Outside of work, he loved spending time with his daughter Ashlynn, fishing, hunting, and the many camping trips with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Earl and Edna Denker; and by his paternal grandparents, Silas and Fern Bartels. Cody is survived by his daughter, Ashlynn; his mother, Debbie Bartels (Dave Cysiewski) of Hastings; his father, Terry Bartels of Caledonia; his siblings, Amy Bartels (Joey Schweich), Shane Bartels, and Tanya Lundstrom; nephews and nieces, Breydon, Charley and Kendra; his godsons, Hunter Shoen and Carter Perry; his dog, Foxie; and by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends. A Celebration of Codys Life will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings, with visitation being held from 10 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
