Clayton Louis McNamara

Clayton McNamara, age 90 of Hastings, passed peacefully at his home on May 5, 2026. He was born May 30, 1935. Clayton was the eighth of ten children to Gene and Marie McNamara.

He graduated from Hastings High School in 1953. Shortly after graduating, he worked for Sanitary Farm Dairy as a milkman where he met and began dating the love of his life, Elly Conzemius. They were married August 2nd, 1958, and had four children together. Clayton worked at 3M for 25 years and was a lifelong resident of Hastings. His life was shaped by faith, family, and community. He was a stranger to no one.

Clayton is survived by his children, Nancy (Glenn) Bauer, Greg (Ann) McNamara, Cindy (Gordy) Rother, and Carol (Mark) Howd; and his eight grandchildren who were the joy of his life. He is also survived by his two siblings, Larry McNamara and Jane Olson; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Elly McNamara; parents, Gene and Marie McNamara; granddaughter, Marissa Bauer; siblings, Leonard McNamara, Clem McNamara, Veronica (Sis) Wermers , Paul McNamara , Jerry McNamara , Tom McNamara, and Sharon Nylon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hastings Family Service or Sharing and Caring Hands.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 12 noon at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church with visitation starting at 10:00AM. Reception and Celebration of Life will be held following Mass at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel. Please bring cash for a meat raffle during the reception. Interment will be in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery.
