Clayton L. Unstad

July 28, 1922 — September 22, 2006

Unstad, Clayton L. “Dagwood” Clayton, 84, died 9/22/06. His positive attitude and acceptance of life’s challenges made him an inspiration to those who knew him. Clayt is survived by his children & stepchildren, Sandra McCalvy, Tom (Judy) Unstad, Jan Unstad, Sandra Olson, Barb (John) Zavada, Joy (Jim) Rauner; grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He graduated from South High School and was in the Army Air Corps stationed in Arizona during World War II. He spent his entire work life at Northern Pump/FMC Corp. in Fridley, where he was a final inspector. Clayt was a huge sports fan. After being stricken with polio as a young man, he could no longer play sports himself, but he maintained his interest and his coaching advice was valued. He was a member of Minnehaha Lodge #165, AF & AM; an American Legion member, and for many years he was a volunteer at Mount Olivet Homes. Clayton was preceded in death by his wife, Leona; parents, Gertie and Helmer, and sisters, Irene Pillen and Helen Unstad. Service: 1 PM Tuesday, 9/26/06 at Mount Olivet Careview Chapel, 5517 Lyndale Ave. S. Visitation 5-7 PM Monday, 9/25/06 at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 3640 23rd Ave. S. Burial Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials to Mount Olivet Homes.
