Chris Edward Illa

Chris E. Illa age 49, of Minnetrista, formerly of Hastings died Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the Marie Steiner Kelting Hospice in Chaska. Chris was born May 25, 1965 in Hastings to Raymond "Bud" and Peggy (Estes) Illa. He was a 1983 graduate of Hastings High School and married his high school sweetheart, Carrie Thomas on June 6, 1987 at the Hastings United Methodist Church. Chris had worked as director of finishing operations in the printing industry. He loved cars, guitars, his work, and especially his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, mother-in-law and father-in-law. Chris is survived by his wife Carrie; mother Peggy Illa of Hastings; brother Dennis Illa (Sue Downs) of Hastings, sisters Kathy (Kevin) Karnick of Hastings and Char (Gary) Brown of Rosemount; also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Paris Pasch will be held 11 AM Thursday, July 31 at the Hastings United Methodist Church, 615 West Fifteenth St, Hastings. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Wednesday at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh St, Hastings and one hour prior to the service at church. A private interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Memorials are preferred.
