Remembering the life…

Charles “Chuck” Dennis Taffe, age 74, of Hastings, MN passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025.

Born on February 16, 1951, Chuck was raised in Morris, Minnesota, the son of Charles and Joyce Taffe. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota Morris, where he built lifelong friendships and cherished memories. An all-conference athlete in both basketball and baseball during his school years, Chuck’s love of athletics became the foundation of his lifelong career. He began teaching Elementary Physical Education in 1974 and dedicated more than three decades to inspiring students before retiring in 2007. Beyond the classroom, he coached numerous sports and spent many years refereeing, sharing his passion for athletics with countless young people. On August 9, 1975, Chuck married the love of his life, Barb, and together they raised two children and were later blessed with four grandchildren. This year, they celebrated 50 years of marriage—a true testament to their devotion and partnership.

More than anything, Chuck loved being a husband, father, and grandfather. He rarely missed a game or event; his presence on the sidelines was steady, supportive, and filled with pride. He cherished time spent with his family and was a constant source of encouragement, humor, and love.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Barbara (Anderson) Taffe; his son, Jeffrey (Jenni) Taffe, and their children, Walker and Georgia; and his daughter, Jamie (Taffe) Thorn, and her husband, Paul, with their children, Louie and Veda. He is also survived by his siblings, Dave (Brenda) Taffe, Marilyn (Tim) Beyer, Jerry (Jane) Taffe, Sandy (Ron) Kopel, Dennis (Nancy) Taffe, and Gail Hill; his sisters-in-law Beverly Anderson and Carol (Paul) Anderson; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Taffe Sr. and Joyce Taffe, and his parents-in-law, Hazel and Elroy Anderson. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
