Charles A. Kranz, age 89, of Hastings, passed away at Regina Assisted Living on April 24, 2014. He was born in Hastings to Charles and Abbie (Gergen) Kranz on November 19, 1924. Charles served in the US Navy during WWII, graduated from The College of St. John’s and received a master’s degree from the College of St. Thomas. He met his wife Bobbie while they were both in college, they married in 1949 in Kalispell, Montana. He was a long time teacher and coach at Hastings High School, and loved get togethers with his family of brothers and sisters and his mother. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Richard; Art; Jerry; and Ray. He is survived by wife, Barbara 'Bobbie' Kranz, brothers, Father Stephen; James 'Wimp'; and John Kranz, sisters, Dee Wilke; and Marge Kane, children, Susan; Kathleen 'Kitty' (Pat) Millard, Greg 'Digger'; Dan (Jennifer); Chris (Leyla); Carrie; and John (Vernell) Kranz, grandchildren, Bert Lucas; Christopher Millard; Ryan, Dan, Abbie and Nate Kranz; Danielle Hoxworth; Dalia Rae Kranz; great grandchildren, Caben; Luke; Cora; Daniel; Gracie; and Brayden Kranz. A Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Fr. Stephen Kranz and Fr. Jim Perkl, will be held on Tuesday (4/29) at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St. Hastings. A gathering will be held on Monday (4/28) from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St. Hastings and one hour prior to mass on Tuesday. Interment, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery.
