Charles "Charlie" Oehrlein

Charles G. "Charlie" Oehrlein, age 52, of Hastings died December 10, 2015 at his home. Charles Gordon was born April 23, 1963 in Hastings to Urban and Pearl (Dick) Oehrlein. A 1982 graduate of Hastings High School, he was employed in the construction industry. Charlie enjoyed working on cars and trucks, loved hunting, fishing and snowmobile water skipping. He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Alice Nelsen. Charlie is survived by his children, Anna and Justin; mother, Pearl Oehrlein; siblings, Gordon (Jeanice) Oehrlein, Audrey (Merl) Schindeldecker, Gary (Mary) Oehrlein, Sheila (Jerry) Kimmes, Stanley (Sue) Oehrlein, Karen (Ken) Donahue, Karleen (Rich) Sieben, Brenda (Joe) McGrath, Billy (Jean) Oehrlein and Christie (Bruce) McCalvin; also by many nieces, nephews and a group of close friends that were like family to Charlie. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Monday, December 14, 2015 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street in Hastings, followed by a 7 PM Service of Remembrance officiated by Gordon Gathright.
