Chad D. Johnson

Chad D. Johnson, age 41 of St. Cloud, died suddenly but peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, November 28, 2017, in St. Cloud. Chad Douglas, the son of Douglas and Deborah (Tix) Johnson, was born on May 13, 1976, in Hastings. Chad began his schooling in Hastings, and later attended Cambridge and Isanti Public Schools. Following his education, he enlisted in the United States Navy, and was later given an Honorable Discharge. Chad married Traci Gatz in 2000, and they were blessed with two children, Brett and Courtny, before later divorcing. As a child, Chad loved playing soccer and baseball. He was also and avid football fan, and loved his Green Bay Packers! He was preceded in death by his son, Brett; his father, Doug; his step-father, Danny; and by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Marlene Tix. Chad is survived by his daughter, Courtny Johnson; his mother, Debbie Tix; his grandmother, Rosemary; his aunts and uncles, Debra, Pam (Jeff) Higgins, Nancy (Paul) Alitz, Terry Tix, and Kathy (Dave) Anderson; and by many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings, with Pastor Paris Pasch officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. Private family interment with Military Honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings and will be announced later.
