It is with great sadness that the family of Carolyn Armitage Feilmeier announces her sudden passing on Friday, May 22, 2020 at the age of 76 years. For the past several years, Carolyn and her husband, Len, split their time between their home in Hastings, MN and Tucson, AZ to enjoy the sunshine, raise horses, and spend time with friends. Born in Casper, Wyoming, Carolyn grew up in St. Paul, graduating from Minnehaha Academy in 1961. She spent over 25 years as a dedicated member of the St. Paul Public school team, working to better the lives of the children in the community she loved. In 1968, Carolyn married Tom Armitage and the two settled into a family home in St. Paul where they lovingly raised two children and spent years as members of Como Park Lutheran Church community. Throughout the years, Tom and Carolyn opened their home to international exchange students, offering a loving opportunity to teenagers from around the world. She was an avid traveler, gardener, and had an expert eye for design. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, who she doted on and would proudly tell you all about. Carolyn’s thoughtful, loving spirit will leave a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Carolyn will be greatly missed by her husband, Len (the weed) Feilmeier; her gorgeous daughter, Michele (Randy) VanKampen, and her favorite son, Scott (Melissa) Armitage. She will also be fondly remembered by four spectacular grandchildren, Brendan Wind, Bradley VanKampen, Jacob VanKampen, and Paige Armitage. She will be deeply missed by her cheerful sister, Joni (Jeff) Wartchow; devoted brother-in-law, Neil (Corinne) Armitage, sister-in-law, Kathy Armitage; the extended Feilmeier Family; as well as many other loving family members, friends, and neighbors. Carolyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Thomas Armitage; mother, Marjorie O’Neil; nephew, Ben Armitage; and brother-in-law, Robert Armitage. A celebration of Carolyn’s life is planned for September when we can all come together in person to honor her memory. Carolyn was a breast cancer survivor who proudly walked the survivor lap each year at the Hastings Relay For Life. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hastings Relay For Life event at: https://secure.acsevents.org/site/STR/RelayForLife/RFLCY20NOR?team_id=2531952&pg=team&fr_id=97132 Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
