Carol Marlys Tornes

Carol Tornes passed away peacefully on Monday June 23, 2025 at the Pines of Richfield Assisted Living. She was born in Minneapolis and raised by parents, Charles and Mabel Johnson. She grew up in two different locations; the first nine years on a farm near Glenwood and later in South Minneapolis. Carol graduated from Minneapolis South High School, class of 1948. She also graduated from the Minnesota School of Business.
Carol married Stan Tornes on December 9, 1950 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. She stayed at home raising their five children. Once the kids were older she joined the workforce. Carol worked several years at the Normandy Inn as a banquet waitress and was active in the union.
Carol loved crocheting, knitting, gardening, playing cards, and traveling. She also enjoyed bowling, gambling, and golfing.
Carol was loving, fun loving and family-oriented.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mabel; husband, Stan; son, Jim; granddaughter, Jennifer; daughters-in-law, Bonnie Tornes and Mone Perron.
Carol is survived by her children, Mike (Anna McDaniel), Sue (Jim) Romain, Jack, Larry (Andreya); grandchildren, Charlie, Joseph, Sean, Kyle, Blake, Carter, Tom, Miles; great-grandchild, Jackson; and many other relatives.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11:00AM at Minnehaha Communion Lutheran Church (4101 37th Avenue S., Minneapolis MN 55406-3425) with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
