Carol A. Johnson, age 68, of Hastings passed peacefully on June 8, 2010 surrounded by her loving family Carol was born November 4, 1941 in Glencoe to Alfred and Helen (Fiala) Tupa. She was a graduate of Glencoe High School and Mankato State University. She married Charles D. Johnson on July 10, 1965 in Glencoe. Along with her husband Carol was co-owner of Whistling Well Farm in Denmark Township; an active member of St. Paul Farmers Market; a former teacher; and retired from 3M in Cottage Grove. She loved the outdoors andchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Carol is survived by her husband of 45 years Charles; sons Chad of Prescott, and Neal of Hastings; and brother Myron (Mae) Tupa of Brookline, MA. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Allan Paul Eilen, will be held at 9AM Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. Fifteenth Street, Hastings. The visitation will be from 4-8PM Friday, June 11, 2010 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. Seventh Street, Hastings, and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. The pallbearers are Roger Libra, Brian Kelley, Jim Fuchs, Joe Karnes, Mike Gerten, and Roger Boros. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at United Hospital, especially Kelly, and special friends Jeannie Williams and Denise Benson. Memorials are preferred to the Animal Humane Society.
