Carmen Mae Nei

Carmen Mae Nei passed away peacefully on May 10, surrounded by the love of her family. She will be remembered for her kind and generous heart, her unwavering compassion, and the genuine care she showed to everyone she met. Carmen had a special gift for making people feel seen, valued, and comforted, and she found true joy in helping others.

Carmen graduated from Hastings High School in 1977 and began her career at Smead Manufacturing. She later followed her passion for caring for others by providing in-home childcare, nurturing and supporting countless children as if they were her own. She went on to serve as a personal care attendant at Regina Medical Center, where her patience, empathy, and gentle spirit made a lasting impact on those in her care.

Carmen found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved camping and fishing, enjoyed spending time at the casino, and always had music in her life—she was a big fan of Kid Rock. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family and was a constant source of support, encouragement, and love.

Carmen is survived by her loving husband, Randy Nei; her sons, Jason Dummer, Jesse Nei, and Jeremy Nei; her brother, Mike Green; her sister, Renee Williamson; her nieces, Maria Jackson, Melissa Jund, Bobbie Green, and Renita Christner; her nephews, Michael Green, Matthew Green, and Charles Potting; and her beloved grand dog, Baby Girl.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Evelyn Green, and her sister, Roxanne Jackson.

Carmen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, carried forward through the kindness and care she so freely gave to others.

A Funeral Service for Carmen will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday May 30 2026 at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings. A visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Appetizers will be served during the visitation, and a reception with additional appetizers will follow the service. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings following the reception.
