Carl Schaar

Carl Schaar, age 102, of Cannon Falls died November 4, 2010 at Angels Care Center. Carl was born March 23, 1908 in Hastings to Otto and Maria (Volkert) Schaar. He married Dorothy Keely on October 5, 1935 at St. John�s Lutheran Church. He was a farmer for many years, and formerly owned the land that is now Schaar�s Bluff. Carl enjoyed bowling, fishing, and being a caregiver for Jay. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant daughter Mary. Carl is survived by his wife Dorothy; children Karen (Roy) Bremer of Hastings, Lew Schaar of Minneapolis, Lois Macey (husband Bill Scott) of Vancouver, WA, and Ruth (Jack) Kletchka of Shoreline, WA; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brother Richard Wachter of Lanesboro, MN. The Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. Percy J. Damrow, will be held at 11AM Saturday, November 13, 2010 at St. John�s Ev. Lutheran Church, 202 W. Eighth St., Hastings, with a gathering one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church.
