Bruce W. Welchlin

Bruce W. Welchlin, age 85 of Hastings, died August 27, 2015 at his Hastings residence. Bruce Walter was born May 28, 1930 in Fairmont, MN to Walter and Nathalie (Jahn) Welchlin. He was a graduate of Fairmont High School and Macalester College and had served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Bruce married Marian (West) on August 14, 1954 in Fairmont and she preceded him in death on August 11, 1985. He married Judy (Kehn) on March 12, 1989 in Hastings. Bruce was a computer programmer analyst with 3M for many years prior to retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Marian. Bruce is survived by his wife Judy; daughter Sharon (Tom) Tobias of Prescott; step son Tracy (Caren) Danielson of Chehalis, WA and step daughter Denise Danielson (Nancy Ostlund) of Champlin, MN; grandchildren Jennifer (Brandon) Boleen and Nathan Danielson; great grandchildren Ethyn and Levi Boleen and Joslyn Danielson; step grandchildren Anne (Patrick) Griffin, Emily Ostlund, Stephanie (Russ) Anzalone and Jason (Samantha) Konouse; also many other relatives and friends. The Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Hastings United Methodist Church, 615 West Fifteenth St., Hastings, with Rev. Chris Kneen officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210 following the service at church. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Wednesday, September 2 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 E. Seventh St. in Hastings and also one hour prior to Thursday service at church. Interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings at a later date. Pallbearers are Doug Emerson, Dale Zimmerman, Jack Danielson, Gary Alleman, Rob Alleman and Kevin Christoffers.
