Blaine C Swanson

Blaine Cameron Swanson, age 66, of Vermillion, MN, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 17, 2017. Blaine was born on July 13, 1950 in Hastings, MN where he would continue to grow up. After high school Blaine received an Associate’s degree in Arts, which he used in his 44 year career at 3M as a designer in the graphics department. Blaine retired from 3M in August of 2016. Blaine met the love of his life, Joanie, as she sung on stage in her rock band in Brainerd, MN. They were later married on September 23, 1978 in Brainerd. Blaine had a knack for art as he would spend time painting and carving. He loved gardening, antiquing with his wife, and enjoyed hunting and fishing until his boys started to play hockey. Blaine stayed active in Vermillion youth sports until his final days. In his most recent years, Blaine’s pride and joy came from being a grandfather. Blaine was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Swanson. Blaine is survived by his wife, Joanie Swanson; sons, Cody (Mara) Swanson and Kyle Swanson; grandchildren, Norah and James Swanson; mother, Alyce Swanson; brothers, Loren (Denise) Swanson and Rollie (Gail) Swanson; and many more friends and family members. A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Lloyd Menke, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday (1/25) at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 400 W. 9th St., Hastings.
