Betty Lou Werner, age 86 of Vermillion, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday afternoon, January 10, 2018, at United Hospital in St. Paul, following an extended illness. Betty Lou, the daughter of Marcus and Ursula (Shannon) Serres, was born January 21, 1931, in Etter, Minnesota. Following her graduation from Hastings High School with the class of 1949, Betty was united in marriage to Arnold John Werner on November 26, 1949, at Waterloo, Iowa. She was a dedicated homemaker and gardener, an excellent cookie maker, she enjoyed bird watching and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Beverly Werner; grandson, Brian Peine; husband, Arnold John Werner; siblings, Kate, Rose Ann, Patricia, Bud, John, Bob and Dick. Betty is survived by her children, William Werner, John Werner (significant other, Sharon Boisselle), Raymond (Amy) Werner, Michael (Cathy) Werner, Carol (Charles) Raway, James (Cheryl) Werner, Richard (Lori) Werner, JoAnn (David) Peine; daughters-in-law, Denise Werner and Marge (Steve) Seberg; grandchildren, Chad Werner, Kristine (Chad) Manske, Josh Werner, Sarah Werner (significant other, Braden Queen), Eric ( Haley) Raway, Laura ( Aaron) Scherer, Missy (Caleb) Bolton, Mark (Danielle) Werner, Terry Peine, Dannielle (Jacob) Lerum; great grandchildren, Joey and Allison Werner, Conrad and Amarah Manske, Cameron Queen, Libby, Lincoln and Langston Bolten, Grayson Werner, Arnold Lerum, Connor Nadlar, Clara, Ila and Wade Raway, Ayden and Olivia Scherer; brothers, Tim (Carol) Serres, Fred Serres (significant other, Ja reen Doffing); and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion, with Father Leonard Andrie officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Monday morning, ALL AT CHURCH.
