Bernice Margaret Swoboda, age 92 of Hastings died Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Regina Assisted Living. Bernice was born November 24, 1920 in New Trier to Jacob and Emma (Gergen) Lucking. She was a 1938 graduate of Hastings High School and married Harvey J. Swoboda on August 9, 1941. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harvey; daughter Jane Swoboda Sterba and brother Elmer Lucking. Bernice is survived by her daughters Judith (Don) Peterson of Pine City and Joanne (Dick) Vretstrom of Hastings; son-in-law Ken Sterba of CA; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren and niece Tracie (Lucking) Mortenson. The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Martin Siebenaler will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, October 19 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. Fifteenth St, Hastings. Visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Agatha�s Cemetery, Vermillion Township. The family wishes to especially thank the Regina Senior Living staff.
