Bernice D. Lichtblau, age 90 of Hastings and formerly of New York, died peacefully following an extended illness on Sunday morning, October 27, 2019, at Regina Senior Living in Hastings. Bernice Dinah, the daughter of Louis and Betty (Liner) Rosenfeld, was born on February 22, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York. Following her graduation from Girls Commercial High School, Bernice was united in marriage to Benjamin Lichtblau on June 26, 1949, and they were blessed with three children, Harvey, Barry and Carol. Bernice later managed the publishing division of Prentice Hall until her retirement. She loved gardening, reading, going for walks, crosswords, and tending to her bird feeders. Bernice took great pride in her house and loved to decorate for any occasion. Bernice also loved to bake cookies and was known for her banana and cranberry breads. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben; son, Barry; and by her sisters, Rozy Kase and Anita Simon. Bernice is survived by her children, Carol (Phil) Dorris and Harvey (Laura) Lichtblau; granddaughter, Sarah Lichtblau; special grand dogs; special friends, Lisa Hicks and Paul Hicks; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2019, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Bernice will be laid to rest at New Montefiore Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
