Bernard P. Klein, age 88, of Hastings, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2015 at Regina Medical Center. Bernard Paul, the son of Paul and Marie (Dunkel), was born on January 25, 1927 in Hastings. He attended Hastings High School and graduated with the class of 1945. Following his education, Bernard enlisted in the United States Navy and later received an honorable discharge. On October 1, 1949, he was united in marriage to Shirley Molitor at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. She recently preceded him in death on February 3, 2015. Bernard was a longtime employee of 3M, first as a machinist and toolmaker and later retired as an engineering planner in 1985. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Dorothy Ellingson and Edward Klein; and by his wife, Shirley. Bernard is survived by his children, Chris (Lori) Klein and Daniel (Dawn) Klein, both of Hastings; his three grandchildren, Josie Klein, Jack Klein and Tanner Volkmann; his sister, Helen Fama of CA; his brother, Kenneth Klein of Hastings; and by many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. Fifteenth St., Hastings. Visitation will be held at church from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Military Honors will be provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210. Private family interment will take place at the Parish Cemetery at a later date. Bernard�s family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at Regina for their excellent care they provided.
