Bernard M. Smith

Bernard M. Smith, age 91, of Hampton, died September 2, 2010 at Regina Nursing Home. Bernard was born June 20, 1919 in White, SD to Joseph and Mary (Ettienne) Smith. He was an Army veteran of WWII, and married Irene Landsberger on June 25, 1946 in Hampton. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a truck driver for Con Agra. He enjoyed word searches, playing cards, going for rides, and the Twins. He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 brothers and sisters; his son and daughter-in-law James and Mari Smith; grandchildren Patrick, Jeffrey, and Nathan. Bernard is survived by his wife Irene; children Charles (Linda) of Hampton, Joseph of Hastings, Mary Ellen (Tom) Erickson of Cannon Falls, and Raymond (Christine) of Northfield; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister Agnes �Peggy� Quick of Bemidji. The Memorial Mass, officiated by Rev. Stan Mader, will be held 11AM Friday, September 10, 2010 at St. Mathias Catholic Church, Hampton, with a gathering one hour prior to the service. Interment, with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210 will follow in the parish cemetery.
