Barbara Mercil

Barbara Jean Mercil, age 70, of Inver Grove Heights, passed away surrounded by her family on June 30, 2017. She was born on October 18, 1946 to Frank and Lillian Duffy in Minneapolis. She married Kenneth Mercil in Hastings on July 27, 1984. Barb was a kind, compassionate and strong woman who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed being outdoors, in particular boating and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling, reading and sewing. Barb is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lillian Duffy; grandson, Michael Mondeng; and step-son, Randy Mercil. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; children, Kathleen (Lon), Jeanette (David), Lori (Don), John, and Melissa (Tom); step-children, Rick (Charry), Ron, Joyce (Hoang), Kathy, Kris (Steve), Kelly (Scott), Joleena (Rick), Jina (Bryan); step daughter in law, Jean Mercil; 29 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many relatives and friends. A visitation will take place Thursday, July 6 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings. A prayer service, officiated by Gordon Gathright, will take place at 7:00 PM. Memorials are preferred.
