Barbara J. Schwieger

Barbara J. Schwieger, age 84, of Hastings, died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Augustana Health Care Center in Hastings. Barbara was born July 20, 1924 in Red Wing, MN to William and Paulina (Mischke) Regelman. She married Benjamin Schwieger on January 16, 1946 in Red Wing and had worked for Smead Manufacturing in Hastings, retiring in 1991. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband Benjamin; daughter Brenda Schwieger of Eau Claire, WI; sons Robert (Karen) Schwieger of Prescott, WI, James (fiancee Linda) Schwieger of Inver Grove Heights, and David (Billie) Schwieger of Hastings; also 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and her sister Alice (Walter) Fischer of Red Wing. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Ed Frederick, the senior pastor ofSt. Philip's Lutheran Church in Hastings will be held at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East 7th St., Hastings, MNat 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 19, 2009 with a visitation held 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Red Wing, MN.
