Barbara A. Bezenek, age 94, formerly of Hastings, died Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the Maplewood Care Center. Barbara was born January 30, 1920 in Upsala, MN to Gustive and Barbara (Gruber) Sadlovsky. She married Benedict A. Bezenek on August 5, 1942 in Wahpeton, ND and had been a longtime Smead Manufacturing employee. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Benedict; son Benedict Jr.; sisters Esther Hoffman and Emma Hoffman; brothers Michael, Ernest, Herman and Ben Sadlovsky. Barbara is survived by her daughters Dorothy McPhail and Elaine Matheson; son David Bezenek; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren and a brother Frank Sadlovsky. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 10:30 11:30 AM Saturday, September 6 at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings. A Noon graveside service, officiated by Fr. David Hennen will follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery in Hastings.
