Audrey Hatcher Hanna Carlson

Audrey Hatcher Hanna Carlson, age 92, of Burnsville, MN, passed away 9/18/2011. Preceded in death by husbands, Lee E. Hanna and Roy T. Carlson, and daughter, Bonnie Parker. Survived by her children, Dennis (Elizabeth), Gerald (Cheryl), Wesley (Denise), David (Sheila), and Janette Brost (Bert); many step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Audrey showed amazing strength and courage in raising her family alone after her husband, Lee died in 1957. She returned to college at Macalester in St. Paul and received her BA and teaching certification in 1962, graduating cum laude. She taught in the St. Paul School District for 22 years at Longfellow Elementary and Galtier Elementary schools. Her determination to keep her family together and do it on her own was inspiring. She led a life filled with strength, courage, humor, and incredible lessons that inspired
her children and all who knew her. Mom, we admire your fortitude for raising us alone and we will always respect your achievements in life. We are waiting for the thunder and lightning. Funeral Service 11:00 AM, Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 147th & Garrett Ave., Apple Valley. Visitation one hour before service at the mortuary. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Ovarian Cancer Research Fund or Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
