Arthur T. Kimmes, age 87, of New Trier, died unexpectedly Friday, January 22, 2016.Arthur was born October 30, 1928 in Miesville, MN to Matt and Marie (Schiller) Kimmes. He was married January 31, 1952 to Mildred A. Thurmes at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. Art served in the Unites States Army during the Korean War and was later granted an honorable discharge. He worked for many years as a route driver for Hastings Co-op Creamery and retired in 1990. Art was also a longtime custodian at St. Marys Catholic Church in New Trier where he and Millie were dedicated members.Art was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Millie; brothers, Bernard, Norbert, Edward Arnold.He is survived by children Shirley Kimmes of Farmington, Diane (John) Swedin of Farmington, Robert (Michelle) Kimmes of Empire, Mary (Al) Nauer of New Trier, Dan (Patty) Kimmes of Hastings, Lisa (Earl) Lemler of Hager City, WI; his grandchildren, Heidi Swedin, Erik Swedin, Heather Kimmes, Dustin Kimmes, Trista Kimmes, Becky (Pat) ODonnell, Nicole Nauer, Katie Nauer, Terri (James) Brewer and Elizabeth Kimmes Nathan Lemler; his great grandchildren, Kenrick, Zoe, Michael, Shain and Adrianna; his siblings, Lawrence "Butch" (Mary Ann) Kimmes, Alois (Mary Rose) Kimmes and Theresa (Jerome) Siebenaler; his sisters-in-law, Virginia Kimmes, Lorraine Kimmes, Barb Kimmes and Pat Bauer; and also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Cole Kracke, will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at St. Marys Catholic Church in New Trier, MN. Interment with military honors provided by Hastings VFW Post 1210 will follow in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 Seventh Street East, Hastings and also one hour prior to Mass Wednesday at church. Pallbearers are his grandchildren.
