Arthur "Art" Dreyling

Arthur "Art" Dreyling, age 78 of Hastings, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at United Hospital, St. Paul. Arthur Paul, the son of George and Michelene (Ramacier) Dreyling, was born on January 22, 1938, in St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduating from high school, Art enlisted in the United States Navy and was Marine Mechanic for twenty years, rising to the rank of Master Chief. Much of the time he served on nuclear submarines, prior to receiving an honorable discharge at his retirement in 1976. On May 17, 1963, Art was united in marriage to Patricia Lynch, in Mystic, Connecticut. Art later worked for NSP/Xcel Energy in Prairie Island and retired after twenty years of employment. He enjoyed spending time at the lake fishing as well spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his daughter, Michelle Walonick, in 1977. Art is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia of Hastings; his children, Thomas (Leslie) Banks, Michael (Sandra) Dreyling, Cheryl Munson and Sandra (John) Caturia; his many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his siblings, Ronald (Sandy) Dreyling, Gloria (Jim) Boerner and Gregory Dreyling; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St., Hastings, with visitation one hour prior to Mass at church. Military Honors will be performed following Mass at church by VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210. Private family interment will be held at the parish cemetery at a later date.Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services in Hastings.
