Armantha "Maxine" Aaron, age 97 of Hastings, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul. Maxine, the daughter of Joseph and Bessie (Crump) Myers, was born on March 23, 1919 in Heyworth, Illinois. On March 28, 1944, Maxine was united in marriage to Chester Eugene Aaron in Kansas City, Missouri. They later moved to St. Joseph, Missouri, then to Hastings and eventually retired to Menahga, Minnesota. Following Chesters death, Maxine returned to Hastings to be near family and friends. She was a dedicated homemaker who loved taking care of her family. Maxine also enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, puzzles and cards, as well as baking and cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester; her granddaughter, Chrissy Harris; and by her seven brothers. Maxine is survived by her children, Dennis Aaron, Caroline Johnson and Janice Kelly; her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and by many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, Hastings, with Reverend Dr. April Davis officiating. Interment will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at church from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, Hastings.
