Arlene C Sorenson

Arlene C. (Fjetland) Sorenson passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Arlene was born in rural Iowa on May 1st, 1921 and became a life time resident of Minnesota spending most of her adult life in the St. Paul area. Her career included working at Diamond Jims Supper Club and the Fort Snelling Officers Club. Being a passionate gardener and bowler were her favorite hobbies. Her delicious garden tomatoes were her pride and joy and all due to her secret weapon….fish fertilizer! The Park Port Lioness organization was also a huge part of her life, devoting much time to their projects. Arlene was spunky, independent and yes, even stubborn. After her husband passed away, Arlene insisted on getting her driver’s license and a brand new car. In 1951, Arlene married Melvin M. Sorenson whom preceded her in death in 1982. Arlene is also preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Hannah Fjetland; sister, Jeanette Brunotte, brother, Harry Fjetland and sister Marlas Evans. Survivors include nephews and nieces as well as grand nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Friday (3/24) at 11:00 a.m. at Newport Cemetery in Newport, MN. The entire Fjetland family wishes to thank the staff at Royal Age Assisted Living in Cottage Grove, MN for their ongoing care and concern.
