Age 98 of Minneapolis, joined his wife, Dorothy, on March 9, 2021. Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Pauline and Judith; and brothers, Cliff and Emil. Survived by his children, Diane Severson, Joanne Knutsen, Douglas (Terri) Swanson and Robert Swanson; grandchildren, Jim, Chris, Susan, Deb, Steve, Ron, David, Ben, Dani, Jess and Matt; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Alvin loved the outdoors and working in his garden. He was a WWII Army Veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Silver Star during his time in the service. Funeral and burial date pending with Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Ave., Apple Valley. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
