Alvera Alvina Niebur

Alvera A. Niebur, age 99, of Miesville, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at Benedictine Living Community in Hastings.

Alvera was born on September 14, 1926, on the family farm in Hampton, Minnesota, to Edward and Dorothy (Peine) Gerster. She was one of seven children and was raised on the family farm, where she enjoyed a close-knit childhood surrounded by her siblings.

As a young woman, Alvera met the love of her life, Omer Niebur, who lived on the neighboring farm. The two would often meet on the bridge over the creek that marked the border between their family farms, beginning a love story that would span a lifetime. They were married on a Tuesday, and just days later learned that Omer would no longer have to leave for military service. Together they made their home in Miesville, where Omer established his shop and where they raised their family of ten children.

Being a wife and mother was Alvera's greatest joy. She devoted her life to caring for her family and creating a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. She was unconditionally loving to everyone she met, and her kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Alvera's Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She was deeply involved in her church and was an active member of the Rosary Society. Her faith was evident in the way she lived each day, always placing God and family at the center of everything she did.

Alvera and Omer built lifelong friendships with many families in the Miesville community. What began as evenings spent dancing together grew into decades of card games, snowmobiling adventures, celebrations, and countless memories shared with friends.

Family was always her greatest priority. Annual family vacations, large gatherings, Sunday afternoons together, and cherished time at the family's cabin on the St. Croix River created traditions that will continue to be treasured for generations. Her greatest happiness came from simply being surrounded by those she loved.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Wally) Wahlstrom, Carol Novak, Al (Sharon) Niebur, Susan (Greg) Jablonske, Jackie (Tim) Bork, Debbie (Dave) Regenscheid, Ed (Julie) Niebur, Mary (Mark) Matecki, Jill (Chris) Ramadan, and Tim (Sara) Niebur; many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Omer; her parents, Edward and Dorothy Gerster; and her siblings.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 23955 Nicolai Avenue East, Miesville, Minnesota.

Visitation will continue from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. A reception will immediately follow the Mass.

A private family interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Miesville at a later date.
